Building Fullness: Breaking Through
Summary
Sometimes, things must break before we can truly experience the fullness of what God has for us. Breaking isn’t always a bad thing. It can be the first step toward freedom, healing, and walking purposefully. When things break, it often means God is making space for something new and greater in your life.
In this article, we explore three key areas where breaking can lead to breakthrough:
Breaking Strongholds: Identifying and demolishing strongholds like fear and doubt through divine power.
Breaking Negative Cycles: Letting go of old patterns and embracing new, God-given opportunities.
Breaking Barriers to Purpose: Overcoming internal and external barriers to fully step into your God-given purpose.
Trust in God's plan, and let His transformative power lead you to a life of fullness and purpose. Break free and walk into all that God has for you!
Sometimes, things must break before we can truly experience the fullness of what God has for us. Breaking isn’t always a bad thing. It can be the first step toward freedom, healing, and walking purposefully. When things break, it often means God is making space for something new and greater in your life.
Here are three key areas where breaking can lead to breakthrough:
1. Breaking Strongholds
In our journey, we often encounter strongholds that can weigh us down and hinder our progress. We are reminded in 2 Corinthians 10, that "The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds." This scripture calls us to recognize and harness the spiritual power we possess through our faith in God. As Christian single parents, we must identify the strongholds in our lives—whether it's fear, doubt, anxiety, or sin—that need to be broken. These strongholds can prevent us from living in the fullness of God's purpose for us and our children. Sometimes, we hold onto these barriers because we are afraid to trust God completely, doubting His ability to set us free. However, the good news is that God has already provided us with the divine power to overcome these obstacles. Through faith and His Word, we can demolish these strongholds, freeing ourselves to live more fully in His grace and purpose. As we reflect on the areas of our lives where we need God's intervention, let us remember that surrendering to His power will bring peace and clarity. Trust in God's plan, use the spiritual weapons He has given us, and break through the barriers that hold us back. In doing so, we will build a life of fullness and purpose, both for ourselves and our children.
"The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds." -2 Corinthians 10:4-5
Take a Moment to Reflect
Are there strongholds in your life—fear, doubt, anxiety, sin—that need to be broken? Sometimes, we hold onto things that limit us because we don’t trust God to fully set us free. But the good news is, God has already given us the power to demolish these strongholds through faith and His Word.
Call to Action
- Identify one area of your life where a stronghold exists.
- Spend time in prayer today asking God to break it, and declare His Word over your life.
- Meditate on scriptures about freedom and victory, such as John 8:36, "So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed."
2. Breaking Negative Cycles
We encounter pivotal moments where God calls us to let go of the past and embrace the new. Isaiah 43:18-19 reminds us, "Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland." This powerful scripture speaks to the importance of releasing old patterns, behaviors, relationships, and mindsets that no longer serve God's purpose for us. Often, we find ourselves clinging to the familiar, even when it hinders our progress. However, God, in His infinite wisdom, sometimes allows these old things to break so that we can step into the new He has prepared. Breaking through these cycles requires faith and intentional action—it means trusting God enough to surrender the known and embrace His transformative plans. As Christian single parents, reflecting on these strongholds that may be holding us back is crucial. Are you stuck in patterns that limit your growth and the fullness of life God intends for you? Remember, God is doing a new thing in your life. He is making a way in the wilderness and providing streams in the wasteland. Trusting in His promise and aligning yourself with His vision will lead to the breaking of old cycles and the building of a life filled with His grace, purpose, and abundance. Embrace this new season with confidence, knowing that God is faithfully guiding your steps.

Take a Moment to Reflect
Are you stuck in patterns of behavior, relationships, or mindsets that are keeping you from moving forward? Sometimes, God allows old things to break so that we can step into the new. Breaking cycles requires faith and intentional action—it means trusting God enough to let go of the familiar and embrace His plans.
Call to Action
- Write down a pattern or habit you feel God is calling you to break.
- Ask God for the strength to release it and trust Him to guide you into something new.
- Commit to one step today that aligns with His plan—whether it’s ending a toxic relationship, starting a new discipline, or forgiving someone.
3. Breaking Barriers to Purpose
We are reminded of the importance of letting go of the past and focusing on the future with determination and faith. Philippians 3:13-14 encapsulates this idea beautifully: "Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus." This scripture encourages us to release the burdens of our past and strive towards the divine purpose God has set before us. As Christian single parents, it's essential to reflect on the barriers—whether internal or external—that might be holding us back from fully stepping into our God-given purpose. Fear, rejection, and insecurity are common obstacles that can hinder our progress. However, breaking through these barriers requires boldness and perseverance, trusting that God has equipped us with the strength and resources to overcome them. As we take a moment to reflect on these challenges, let us remember that God’s calling is always forward-looking. Embrace His guidance, shed the weight of the past, and press on toward the future with confidence, knowing that every step taken in faith is a step toward the fullness of life and purpose He has promised.

Take a Moment to Reflect
Are there barriers—internal or external—that are keeping you from fully stepping into your God-given purpose? Breaking barriers often requires boldness and perseverance. Whether it’s fear, rejection, or insecurity, remember that God has equipped you to overcome.
Call to Action:
- Identify one barrier you’re ready to break through with God’s help.
- Declare this scripture over your life: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13).
- Take one bold step of faith toward your purpose today—whether it’s starting that business, sharing your testimony, or pursuing a dream you’ve put on hold.
Final Encouragement
Breaking can feel painful, but it is often the beginning of your breakthrough. Remember, God’s plans for you are for good, to give you hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). Whatever is breaking in your life, trust that God is working all things together for your good (Romans 8:28).
Let Him break what needs to be broken—strongholds, negative cycles, barriers—so that He can build you into the person He’s called you to be. Let me pray with you.
Lord, I surrender to You all the areas of my life that need to break. Break every chain, every stronghold, and every barrier that keeps me from You and Your purpose. I trust You to rebuild what is broken into something greater. Strengthen me to walk boldly into the freedom and victory You have for me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Let’s break free and walk into all that God has for us!
